Pain Relieving Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements

Suffering from painful joints and muscles is all too common problem, especially for those weekend handymen and women who normally sit behind a desk all week long. Straining muscles, stressing joints, and overworking the ligaments that hold it all together can be a pain filled experience that needs some form of pain reliever. There are many vitamins minerals and supplements on the market today that will help keep your body in shape and better able to handle the stress when it does occur.

NSAID’s are frequently prescribed by doctors

Known as anti-inflammatory and non-steroidal drugs, NSAID’s are a class of medications that range from aspirin to acetaminophen and rub on compounds that may consist of camphor, methyl salicylate, and menthol in any combination. The rub on creams or ointments may offer immediate relief because of the massaging process used to apply them.

Omega-3 fatty acids derived from fish reduce inflammation

Among the proven ingredients that include vitamins minerals and other supplements are the Omega-3 fatty acids as well as flaxseed oil. These protect against those joint damaging enzymes called collagenases which are the main cause of inflammation in our joints and muscles. In other words, do some warm up exercises to improve flexibility. However this is not often possible.

While no vitamin can be classified as a pain reliever, they do provide help by insuring our joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendon are provided with oxygen and anti-inflammatory ingredients. Among vitamins minerals and other supplemental additives to our daily diet, we find several that stand out as being beneficial to our sore tired muscles and joints. Vitamin D is essential for strong bones and the creation of new bone cells. B-12 is useful for proper function of the nervous system and nerve endings which prompt us of pain in our extremities. Vitamins A and C help by keeping the spinal column strong and resilient. Magnesium and calcium are vital to for the prevention of osteoporosis.
