Blizzard Entertainment has really raised the stakes in the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Not only is it rumored to take over the top spot which was held by Burning Crusade, it is said to introduce new gameplays and a new engrossing world. However, the game’s most exciting addition is probably the game’s new Hero Class, the Dark Knights. Powerful, skilled, and deadly, the Dark Knights are no longer servants of the Lich King, but allies of the Horde and Alliance. One of the reasons why the Dark Knights are so special is that not only are they skilled in melee and spell casting, they also have their own resource system and their own special profession known as Death Knight runeforging. Read on if you want to know what Runeforging is all about.
Basically, Runeforging is the ability to arm or inscribe runes on your Death Knight’s Runeweapon. These runes work similarly to enchants in that they give your Death Knight additional skills or abilities or makes them tougher and more powerful.
The steps on how to do the Death Knight runeforging are the following:
1. Head to Ebon Hold. It is accessible at any time but a cooldown period exists. You have a portal opening skill made available at the beginning of the game so going to Ebon Hold won’t be a problem.
2. Once you are in Ebon Hold, look for a Rune Forge. This is the only way that you can choose or customize the runes on your Runeweapon.
3. Choose the rune you want by clicking on your spellbook. Remember, only one rune can be used at a given time. Every time you go to the Rune Forge, the existing rune will be replaced with the new rune you choose. Thus, it is important to plan your gameplay. Choose the runes that will help you in each specific gameplay, such as exploration, quests, or battles.
As of the moment, Blizzard Entertainment has released information about the 8 available Runes that can be used in Death Knight runeforging. They are the following:
Cinderglacier –
gives you 20% more damage on Frost or Shadow attacks.
Razorice –
gives you an additional 1% increase in weapon damage.
Spellbreaking –
with this rune, 2% of all spells thrown at you will be deflected.
Spellshattering –
this rune deflects 4% of spell damages.
Lichbane-
extra fire damage and a 5 second stun is what this rune gives you.
* Swordbreaking –
you can parry attacks 2% more with this rune.
* Swordshattering –

* Fallen Crusader –

The key here is to study the runes and match them to your own fighting style and the skills that your Death Knight already has. I hope this brief look into the Death Knight runeforging system was helpful. Now you know how to make your Death Knight even more powerful and feared!
